SGT (E5) to SSG (E6) Promotion Worksheet

General Rules to each promotion:
  • You will have to complete all the tasks that are written on the back
  • After you have gotten signed off on all of those tasks then you will need to get tested by your Platoon Sergeant, then your First Sergeant, then your Company Commanders, and finally the instructor
  • For this test all you will need to do is stand either at attention or at ease, and repeat their rank back to them as well as the question and its answer: for example, if the question is being asked by your First Sergeant and the question is “What is the rank of One stripe up?”, you would respond with “First Sergeant, the rank of One stripe up is Private”
  • You will also need a concurrence form from your teachers saying that you at least have a 75% in each class and you have a decent moral system

(Orange Worksheet)
Alrighty so you have made it to Sergeant now it’s time to get to Staff Sergeant (Wooo!!)
  • The first thing that you need to do for the promotion is to recertify the information that you have acquired in the previous worksheets ( Again, you will do this when you go to get tested by your Platoon Sergeant, then First Sergeant, Company Commander, and then instructor)
  • Next you will have to attend two out of school activities, you can do the same activities as recommended for the Sergeant worksheet like Keep Our Campus Clean or when we are able to guard the gates at the football games
  • Next you will have to complete ten JROTC Service hours, you can do this by participating in Wolf-A-Thon, or your Company Service-learning Project which is very easy to do
  • Next you have to participate on either a JROTC team or an extra circular team like sports or clubs, this is pretty easy since Newsome offers a lot of extra-curricular activities to do; but the JROTC are a lot more fun, so if you want to try out a team this is the perfect opportunity to do so
  • Now you have to assist with one subordinate’s promotion, the easiest way to do this is to just help them in one area of a promotion and then signing off on their worksheet
  • This next item is to correctly march a platoon, for this I will recommend doing the same as learning how to march a squad which is to go to a drill practice and ask someone there how to march a platoon and you will most likely get it done in either one or two practices (the drill team meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays)
  • Finally, you just have to have all your forms turned in to finish this sheet
